Coherence

The Wootha Prize (named after the local aboriginal name for Australian red cedar) is an annual competition held as part of the Maleny Wood Festival to promote the creative use of sustainable timbers.

Entries must be of Australian timbers sustainably harvested from native forests or plantations, or recycled or weed timbers. One entry is invited per applicant.

The Sunshine Coast Wootha Prize for 2026 is a reimagined version of the Wootha Prize which has been the feature exhibition at the Maleny Wood Expo since 2004. It is hosted by Barung Landcare in Montvale at Montville.

In 2026 the theme was ‘Sustainable by nature, beautiful by design.’ Robert Howard’s work Conherence was an honorary mention in the category for Sculptures. Here are some of the images captured of the process involved in creating this piece.
