Learning woodwork teaches you more than just the tools and materials involved
There is something special about woodwork’s ability to engage people of all ages (it is used in Froebelian Principles of Education for children). It is all about learning through doing, in a holistic and multisensory manner.
The patterns, colours and scent of wood, how the natural material feels in your hands, the sounds of hammering and sawing all add to the experience.
It’s about hands*, body and minds working together in sync to express ideas and solve problems. The development of muscle memory, strength and coordination that engage your senses and imagination.
There are additional reasons to learn woodworking waiting for you to discover, such as:
- sustainability
- risk and safety management
- mathematical and engineering principles
